Do Orthotics Fix Heel Pain? No, I don't actually think orthotics fix heel pain, but orthotics do fix poor foot posture. And most times heel pain is exacerbated or made worse from poor foot posture.
There are a couple of different types of heel pain that are actually from muscles that overwork as a result of your foot overworking, which can be a result of either doing too much work or too much work because your foot posture isn't working.
And so, therefore, the muscles are overcompensating and making things worse.
It's really frustrating as a practitioner when I see that patients are just given orthotics for heel pain.
There's no way that just giving orthotics is going to fix you 90% of the time. You definitely need to look at addressing things like strength, exercises, your footwear choices for a limited period of time and rehabilitation of that tissue.
Orthotics just won't do that by themselves.
