You are welcome to be YOU at A Step Ahead, no matter who you are or how you identify. We look at everyone as a person to help and not as a condition to be treated. Our clinic is open to everyone, we value friendly, kind, respectful, warm and occasionally fun people, of all genders, races, religions, ages and identities.
Our Clinics are warm. friendly, LOUD spaces, they are full of laughter, conversation, children playing and smiles, yes loads of smiles! We enjoy a relaxed, informal environment. We take our medicine seriously, but not ourselves!
We welcome people on a first-name basis, we don’t use Mr, Mrs or Ms and we equally don’t expect you to need to either.
Over 20 years plus of practising Podiatric medicine, we have found that this is a culture that fits our clinic. We’ve found that this relaxed approach is part of the secret sauce that helps us deliver outstandingly positive results.
We realise that this, however, may not fit you. If this is the case, please ask us and we will happily suggest some clinics that may be a better fit for you. As part of our relaxed nature, we won’t be offended or upset in any way.
Medicine is about people, not conditions
When you walk through our doors, you will be welcomed as a person, not as a race, religion, gender or sexuality. Now while that sounds all fluffy and motherhoody, it’s our commitment to those who choose to use our service.
(Yes, motherhoody is now a word)
As part of providing the best possible foot and ankle medicine to Sydney, Western Sydney and the greater Penrith region You are welcome to be YOU at A Step Ahead, no matter who you are or how you identify. We look at everyone as a person to help, and not as a condition to be treated
Our clinic is open to everyone, we value friendly, kind, respectful, warm and occasionally funny people, of all genders, races, religions, ages and identities.
LGBTQ community
Our team aim to provide an environment that is supportive and respectful of ALL people and their relationships, treat all people equally, with non-judgmental positive regard.
Will we get it wrong? Yes, from time to time despite our genuine love respect and care, there will be times we get it wrong. It seems disingenuous to say anything else.
If we do, please feel free to quietly and respectfully let our practice manager, team leader or your practitioner know. We’d enjoy the same respect and compassion you’d expect. From there, our team will do its best work with you to make sure you feel respected and most importantly, just like everyone else.
Our “We’re not for you” policy
As you can see from the information above, having a positive, friendly, welcoming environment is vitally important to our clinics. With this in mind, we developed a “We’re not for you” Policy
Again, Dignity and Respect for all are a crucial component, therefore, we will not accept;
- Rudeness or Aggression In any form to ANY members of our team or ANY others in our clinics
- We will not accept rudeness, aggression or offensive Language towards our Front desk and admin team.
- We will NOT tolerate Language Actions or Behaviours in our clinics that in any way discriminate against others due to their gender, race, religion or sexuality. Your beliefs should not impinge of the dignity and respect shown to others
What happens if I’m Rude Aggressive or treat others without respect or dignity?
Our policy means a Zero tolerance policy toward inappropriate, unwelcome behaviour. To make it clear and straightforward if you are Rude Aggressive or Disrespectful in any way to any of our team or others in our clinic we reserve the right to undertake the following;
- You will be asked to leave the clinic and not return.
- Any future appointments you have will be cancelled.
This can be embarrassing, and wherever possible, we will avoid this. Instead of approaching you directly and creating an embarrassing confrontation, we may also send you a letter to the mailing address you have provided us at our earliest convenience.
It pains us greatly to have to publish this. While this is far from our preferred option, it is Very important to Us that our clinics continue with our warm, friendly, welcoming environment. While we are inclusive, we also understand that our values are not suitable for everyone and as such, not everyone will be suitable for our environment.
This is NOT commonplace as most of our patients are delightful, wonderful friendly people to be around who add value to the culture we have built over 20 years!
